The navigation of a site is crucial to its success. The ability
to travel between the pages without endless clicking is vital,
to be unsure where to click is a serious flaw on a webpage.
Ideally, links to internal pages should be text links. If
you are using buttons, give the image a descriptive alt tag.
To ensure ALL pages are easily found by visitors put a text
link from the home page to a site map where every page on the
site is listed. On large sites, this may run to several pages
as it is best to limit the number of links on a page to a maximum
of 100 links.
A short sentence describing the target page's content will
help both visitors and SE robots.
